Happy New Year!
With 2017 just starting what are our new year’s resolutions? What are the goals for this year and how to position oneself so it is attainable? I have to confess previous years I had some really great goals but did not always achieve them . Now I have learned to not give up, or dream smaller, but go after my new goals with all I have. Some of these goals requires hard work and faith and challenges ahead. For me, these goals are connected to God’s heart and purposes, and I realise that without His grace its impossible to fulfil them. I have been reading the word of God and am reminded of this gift of grace.
The word of God says in 2 Corinthians 12:9: “And He said to me: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
The word Grace in the original text “Charris” comes from the root “Charra” – Joy, charro – “to rejoice”. It causes rejoicing, signifying unmerited favor, underserved blessing, a free gift. God’s love and acceptance of man is based on “grace” or “unmerited favor” because of Jesus and what He did on the cross. Our real spiritual strength is not in ourselves but rather in the power of Jesus Christ operating within us.
My prayer is that you and I can experience in our day to day this unmerited favor of Christ approaching each day putting our hope first in Him.
“May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord” 2 Peter1:2
